The Robert Lovi Academy --also known as "GracieSD"-- is the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Team Pedro Sauer school for San Diego. Professor Sauer is an 8th degree Red-Black belt under Rickson Gracie, and is widely considered among the very best Jiu-Jitsu practitioners--and teachers--in the world. The Pedro Sauer Association is among the largest and most prestigious in the world, producing consistently high caliber, technical students.
Pedro Sauer Curricula
Jiu-Jitsu classes are conducted in the traditional gi, the Japanese kimono training uniform. The gi simulates clothing, and involves a wide array of dedicated techniques. The Academy follows the certified curriculum and belt ranking system of Pedro Sauer.
Other classes, such as the Mixed Martial Arts class, teach no-gi Jiu-Jitsu, which is also referred to as submission wrestling. For a full listing of programs at the Academy, please visit the Programs section of this site.
